TAG

So my friend in Korea tagged me to do this where you take the 4th photo in the 4th folder. Well I love her and the number 4 is my favorite so here it is!! I had to cheat a little since so many of my pics are of other people...you understand! I tag S, Karri, Mandi and Marsha!

So this photo was taken in March 08 on the first camping trip we took with our pop up camper. We went to Glen Rose Texas, the dinosaur park. Stephen LOVES to hike and I DO NOT, but we were looking at all the tracks and some are in water. Don't worry if you fall in they have "life saving" jugs for you!! I found it funny and took a picture of them. I wonder if they really work? They probable do and the park has them there rather than expensive rings, it makes me wonder how many everyday things I take for granted that can be used for something? Anyway...
I am off to bed. We go to Graham tomorrow for my side of the family Christmas. Should be fun the Heather Belle will be there...all the way from Hawaii. I cannot wait to see her!
Until later...
E
ps Please pray for my friends in Knoxville they are getting a house ready to sale and moving to another state. I know those transitions are hard...so please pray that everything falls into place for them! THANKS!!

WOW

So I am a little behind on my posting! Seems like I have posted but I guess I have been in full swing Anniversary, Christmas and Birthday mode.

Stephen and I celebrated our 12th anniversary on Sunday the 21st. It is so hard to believe that we have been married that long! I am so blessed to have him and he really spoiled me this anniversary. He gave me a cruise! We are going in March on a 7 day Western Caribbean cruise! We are so excited!!

For Christmas Eve my parents and grandparents came over. We enjoyed being with them and letting the kids play with the wiggle cars Nonnie and Poppy got them. Then we have had a laid back Christmas day. Again I have been VERY spoiled and VERY surprised by my gifts. Stephen got me an ipod that he even had engraved with a message! I love it! Of course the kids are having fun with gifts and all the fun of Christmas.

Hope you have a great day and remember the REAL reason for the season. JESUS!

Love, E

THE dress

(I have not proofed these photos but HAD to post them)
With that here is the dress, well collar that I smocked. The red velvet dress is from when I was a little girl. The collar took several hours and I enjoyed making it for her. I did most of the work at my parents farm. I am so thankful I can make these heirlooms for my precious little girl.
I better head to bed.

Princess Meri

So Merideth came out of her room with this on her head. She said, "Mommy I am a princess." It reminded me of when my sister and I would dress up like Mary and Joseph.

...remodel...

So here is the almost finished product. All we lack is finishing, as my Daddy would say! Also cleaning up the stuff, putting up tools and you know just finishing. Our plan is to list soon. So with that we need to CLEAN, SORT and get it done!
More later!

Christmas Past

This photo was taken last year while we were on a cruise. We had so much fun with the kids. Stephen had just returned from a 6 month deployment and we decided to get away as a family. We really love to cruise and look forward to going again, hopefully soon!
Dale had just turned 5 and Merideth was 2 and a half. They are certainly growing up too fast!
We are busy getting the house ready for market and just getting ready for all the little things that go on with a move. We are planning, right now, to move early May. Stephen's class starts June 8.
I better go teach!

Remodel update

I seriously wish I had a before photo to show you. I will find one for tomorrow...or next week.. Here is a sneak peek at the kitchen. We did an octagon tile with oak trim. The cabinets are "Texas leather" color, thanks S for the Pottery Barn suggestion. The back splash is slate. I am still unpacking stuff so this is not the final way it will look...BUT I wanted to show a little of what all has been going on!
I am feeling better now that my mixer has been found. It was on the couch in the front room! I don't do well with change, I don't do well at all. With orders (military term for papers saying where we are moving) not done, moves to be coordinated, house remodel, house to sell, icky life situations I have gotten myself overwhelmed. So I am going to just be still...well after the squadron luncheon tomorrow and Dale's party on Saturday...But I am going to be still and listen...I look forward to the rest....

Birthday Fun!

Dale and all his loot!

He even
got excited about books!

Merideth was so happy to help him with his presents and very glad Dale got so many Star Wars toys. It is fun listening to them play together. Sounds a lot like my brother and sister and I when we were little. Except there is no war over who gets to be Leah!
We had a fun day. He wanted Sushi for lunch and then Thai food for supper. I will post those photos later. Our sweet waitress at Ann's Thai Kitchen made him origami swans for his present. He told her last week we were going to be back for his birthday!
The kitchen is almost done! PTL!
I better go and help defend the galaxy!
E

BIRTHDAY!

Happy Birthday Sweet Boy...

As you can see he was a little sleepy this morning. Merideth wanted to get him up and all that know her know she is an early riser! Stephen had to be at work early so the donut run was made very early...So worth it!
More later!

Dale and B

I wish that the photos would have loaded with his "older" one first. Dale was 9 days old in the baby picture. This is the bear that my sister gave to him. She gave it to me when we went to pick her up from Eagle Lake in Colorado, it is the Navigator camp that she worked at and also where we went when we were teenagers. We have great memories there. Anyway when she gave Dale Robert the Gap Teddy Bear, I was 7 months pregnant at the time, I remember thinking that I hoped he liked it and would sleep with it and play with him...Little did I know! When my sister, Heather Belle, was younger she had Merle Freddy. I will post a photo of him and her someday...it was in the crazy cabbage patch kids day and she thought/knew Merle Freddy to be REAL. So when Dale started to love on his HB later shortened to B like Heather Belle did her treasured Merle Freddy I though how sweet. Well his affection for B has grown, he still sleeps with B every night. B is the first thing packed and often the first thing left! We DO NOT MAIL him for fear of loosing him! Once we left him when we were going on a long trip. It was about 2 hours into the trip when we realized the loved B was missing...I almost turned around to go and get him! I didn't! Dale still loves his B and so when I took photos last week he wanted B in the picture with him. Dale will be 6 on Wednesday. I wonder how much longer he will be that sweet little boy with the bear?

Oh MY GOODNESS!

SO here it is! The picture for the cards this year!! LOVE IT! Hope you do too...oh and let me know what size you want it printed in...you know 16x20 or 20x24!!

Thinking

Well as we move forward with the remodel it has me thinking. Is all this work worth it? I don't do well with uncertainty, who does? So with all this going on it has me realizing that there is a lot of growing that needs to be done. With the changes to the house, just fixing it up and making it better it makes me think about what the Lord wants to remodel in my house; in me. Not to make me "look better", but that is certainly an area I need to weigh in on, but what would make me more useful to Him. Just like putting in a new oven, I need to invest, put into my life things of the Lord. I need to "invest" in my spiritual remodel if you will. Anyway hope all that makes sense! Pray with me as I journey on the remodeling left to do in my life and home!

Oh our orders still say report no later than 4 Jan. What is up with that!?! Maybe we are supposed to be there, well I know we are "suppose to" be there but when? I know I would just like some certainty, there is that word again, of when we are moving!

Well I better bolt...lots to do...you know we MIGHT move soon!!

Now don't be shocked

But we had a great home school day. I even let them BOTH cut and color. I almost got the glue out but thought that I might be pushing my limits if I did! We are studying the letter "O" this week. The numbers 7 and 8. They are both coloring their octopus now. We watched videos of the "creature" online and are enjoying the new knowledge! Hope you are having a great day too!

Just some recent photos of the kids. I cannot believe that Dale is about to be six! Star Wars is what he is all about and I am having fun thinking of a cake to make for his day. Merideth is just so sweet. She is really into "I just need to hug you 3 more times" and then precedes to cry if you don't let her. Normally this takes place about 3 seconds after we have left the person she NEEDS to hug! The photo of them together was taken at the farm. Dale and Meri had fun playing in the water. Dale would fill her gun up and then she would shoot it. He decided to shoot her, well she cried and got mad for about 22 seconds and then figured out she could shoot him too! He would fill up the water guns and then they would shoot each another, that is how they say it...each another...

Well I have things to do! E

Transitions

So things are going slow with the remodel. I guess I should have expected that. I am just a list maker and doer and then life gets in the way and then gas lines don't run where they thought...okay well enough of that.

The kids and I are in Vera now. I went to be with the kids on Tuesday with my Mom in Graham. Then we came on to the farm. We are supposed to leave for home in the morning...and get ready for a garage sale...we have an ad in the paper, boxes of stuff everywhere. Pray for me as I decide to come home and live in the chaos and have the sale and make the money or stay here at the farm.

Oh and next weekend Stephen and I are headed to "A Weekend to Remember". I am looking forward to it, pray we learn and grow from the weekend what all we are supposed to. (Not what I think he needs to learn!)

I better go and "have a talk" with the kids. They are still up and are "talking"!

Interesting stuff...

We got word today that Stephen's start date for class is not until...JUNE! We are thankful to be staying near family and friends longer. Also it gives us a lot more time to sell the house!

I am feeling fine, just grumpy so I am going to rest now...Tests are all fine!

Just Stuff

Okay so we are still not sure what is happening with the move...I will update about that again when we know for certain what is happening. All other post will relate to that since so much depends/hinges on what is going on. Hopefully it will nor bore you too much! Last night Stephen and I were talking about when we would move and how all the things I am doing around the house are so tied up with what and when. Do I pack up the kitchen entirely or just sort of since we may need some stuff...it is really frustrating! I decided to pack up like it is January and to label boxes really well! Some things are going into storage for the showing of the house. But if I need them I know where they are and they can easily, please Stephen, be gotten!

So on Thursday my sweet Mother came and helped with the kitchen. She completely organized all my food. Which just in case you are wondering is staying! I can't pack that, I need to eat! Well and the rest of the family! But we got the kitchen done. THANK YOU MOTHER. And thank you for taking my sweet babies home with you for so long. I really really miss them! But Stephen and I are enjoying the time together and also I am getting a lot done!

Okay so then on Friday a miracle worker named Risa came over and she started in on the "organizing" part. She is a professional organizer and I HIGHLY recommend making the investment. On Friday we tackled the "office" area of my home. We ended up with at least 8 bags of trash! She came back on Saturday and we went into the school room. We cleaned out one closet entirely and then organized the school area. Oh and she organized my "cleaning" closet. I will not need to purchase cleaning supplies for at least 3 years! I must like to buy that stuff!! Anyway the biggest thing I have learned in the process is that everything needs a home. So with that new knowledge we have purchased a small inventory of sterlite boxes and small containers to "house" stuff! It is great! Googly eyes now have a home, so do pipe cleaners and my million and one sharpie markers, I like to buy those too! It has been exhausting but freeing. As we began the process Risa prayed that this would be a "cleansing" time for our home, for me. That I could release some things I didn't need to hold onto. WOW! It is so freeing to be letting go of so many things. But not the googly eyes we will need them for art projects in 2nd grade, Risa assured me! (She is also a home school mom!) If any local families want to hire Risa let me know and I will get you her information. I send out my full endorsement of her. She truly has a heart for God and I have enjoyed working with her.

Okay so it is funny that as we cleanse the house I am about to start the cleansing of my body!! I have my colonoscopy tomorrow. Also the upper gi test done. Pray all goes well and that I don't eat in the night!!

I better go and organize the bathroom...I already did the other one and man it makes me sleep better having it all done...

Changes...
We don't know FOR SURE when we are moving. It is all up in the air. People are trying to help us stay here longer. The major kitchen remodel starts Monday and I don't know if I should pack for December or April!

January 2

That is the day that we are "hearing" Stephen is to be in Vegas! We are going to pray that it is made a PCS (permannent change of station) so the entire family can go. Here are a few things to pray for with us...that we all move at the same time...the HOUSE SELLS FAST! Just basically that they trasition is a smooth one. I don't move well and moving away from Texas and the friends we have made here will be hard...
Good things are that a certain red head may be in Vegas not too long after us...See there is always a silver lining!

Well I better get stuff done!
E

Wednesday, October 29, 2008

Just pray...

So here is the latest on the move...
We got a "rip" today for Stephen's training. It has him reporting 5 Jan! Okay so that is A LOT sooner than we expected. It is a TDY, which means temporary duty yonder, so that translates to the family is not included in those orders. I guess that it means the kids and I will stay here while he trains, or dear Jesus we can get our hineys in gear and sale the house then we will live in a hotel wherever Stephen is...Oh all the things to do. I feel very overwhelmed! So tomorrow my sweet Mother is coming to help me pack up the kitchen...Why you ask? So that we can tear it out for the remodel that starts on Monday. Which so happens to be the day I have an upper AND lower gi done...Fun Stuff happening here...

see post below

So for those of you who KNOW me...does this fit?? I think parts of it do but it is funny on some things...

I better get back to working on the list of one million and two things to do before we move!! I think I am on #fourteen!

Your result for What Your Taste in Art Says About You Test...

Balanced, Secure, and Realistic.

30 Impressionist, 13 Islamic, 8 Ukiyo-e, -27 Cubist, -35 Abstract and 10 Renaissance!

Impressionism is a movement in French painting, sometimes called optical realism because of its almost scientific interest in the actual visual experience and effect of light and movement on appearance of objects. Impressionist paintings are balanced, use colored shadows, use pure color, broken brushstrokes, thick paint, and scenes from everyday life or nature.

People that like Impressionist paintings may not alway be what is deemed socially acceptable. They tend to move on their own path without always worrying that it may be offensive to others. They value friendships but because they also value honesty tend to have a few really good friends. They do not, however, like people that are rude and do not appreciate the ideas of others. They are secure enough in themselves that they can listen to the ideas of other people without it affecting their own final decisions. The world for them is not black and white but more in shades of grey and muted colors. They like things to be aestically pleasing, not stark and sharp. There are many ways to view things, and the impresssionist personality views the world from many different aspects. They enjoy life and try to keep a realistic viewpoint of things, but are not very open to new experiences. If they are content in their live they will be more than likely pleased to keep things just the way they are.

Here they are, the most precious babies in the world! We were on our way to a "royal event" for a friend. Merideth's friend 'Mia was turning 3 and her party was a dress up one. It was a lot of fun...we are going to miss 'Mia and her family.
We have a prayer request, yes about the move! We are praying we can delay the move by a couple of months. Originally when the "move talk" started it was always May time frame. With all that needs to get done it will make the transition easier and better. We are just needing the time to finish getting the house ready and Stephen needs the time for some "wing building"! Also it would make more sense with his career, I guess he has a "military career building" review coming up in March. (I can't remember what it is called!)Anyway...Thanks! Also we are excited about the new adventure, we are just a little let down because of how quick it is and also we were told something else was in the "works" to keep us in Texas. I know the Lord is going to use this time to really grow us! I look forward to the adventure. I have never lived in such a HUGE place!!
I better get things a goin' round here!!

Finally!

Well we got word today that we will be moving to a place that family and friends will actually want to visit! We will be moving to Vegas early next year! Lots to happen in the next few weeks. Get the house ready...get rid of a lot of stuff...sell a house...get the stuff together to keep...to DITY (do it yourself move)...sell a car...a boat...wonder what will happen to the dogs...LOTS to do! PRAY! Okay so lots to process...we are a little surprised by the early date to move...We are excited about the new adventure!

Learning...

I really pray that I learn something from this waiting game we are playing with the AF....I know that where ever we live we are where we are supposed to be...I realize that our Heavenly Father has gone before us...I know all this...I just wish I knew where it is we are headed!!

I am also learning a lot from a great book S gave me. It is "Growing Godly Tomatoes". The concept is that you "stake tomatoes to a pole" so you should stake your kids to you when intense training is going on. When we have done this we get great results. So far what I have learned is that your kids will do better if you spend time with them. They will be like, act like show they spend their time with...It is very convicting and motivating. I have not read a parenting book that had me wanting to keep reading even though I need to clean house, do laundry, proof photos, take out trash, cook, rock the kids, read to them, wash my hair...you get the idea the book is good!

I better go and do all those things...

Waiting game...

Still no news on orders. They are saying that it might be the middle of the week.

I had a fun weekend in Shreveport with my friend. It is funny...we went for a girls weekend to Shreveport...Most would assume we gambled. No we sewed, laughed, ate out, talked about goals, home schooling, missed a certain red head, prayed, shared and just had a fun time. BTW the apple dress does not fit...not even close!!

I am trying to get things back in order around here! They did a good job of keeping things clean and kept. Just the little things needed attention...oh and the pile of laundry!

I better get to it!

Still Waiting...

No word yet....

Stephen missed a call on the way home from work, he was riding his motorcycle and was not able to catch it in time. I am so proud of him for not trying to answer while on the bike...

We still hope to hear something soon...We went out to eat...and shopped...just passing time!

Will keep you posted...
E

Waiting!....

Still waiting for the call on where we are moving! The suspence is killing me!!

We SHOULD know by tonight...

We also thought we were going somewhere and now we are not...maybe we are...don't know...don't have a clue...well maybe...ugh!!

More later!

Thursday, October 09, 2008

Well I was going to show a photo of what I am making for Merideth. Her Christmas dress should be a work of art, if I finish it! So far I have smocked on the wrong side of the collar...gotten way to worked up about "packing pleats" and have changed my mind about the design about 349 million times! I am making her a "float dress" with a smocked collar overlay. The collar is scalloped in holly berries and will be a geometric pattern with her initial. Pray I finish it!

School went really well today. Dale did great on all his work. He is doing better about listening and sitting while we "talk" about his lesson. I really am enjoying the blessing of being able to home educate our children...

Gotta smock...E

Wednesday, October 08, 2008

I LOVE Pumpkins! My family grew them for a while and I learned a lot in the pumpkin' patch. I really miss growing them and all...I don't miss the rotten ones, or the ones I left in my trunk!

This weekend is the 12 year anniversary of mine and Stephen's first "date". WOW! We are going camping with the kids and some friends. We are also sailing...pray I am nice...I DO NOT like to sail! I really don't like it at all. Pray I am nice, I think I mentioned that one! Pray we are safe, and that I am nice! I am looking forward to the smores!

I am evaluating the home school stuff we are using. I need to spend more time in the day doing school rather than "planning" school! I was talking to my two best friends, who also home school, and it is funny the weaknesses we each have are so different. And majorly different than what we thought we would have. I do so enjoy it and as we face a new place to live it gives me much comfort to know that school is one area we won't have to worry about. It will be nice to go anywhere, literally, and be able to take school with us! That is one of the blessings in it! There are many more. Tomorrow my goal is to start with Bible, then have a good breakfast, then do the reading parts and some math. Then later in the day, before I start supper read some from "History for Little Pilgrims". I really am learning a lot from the book too. Mainly we just need to be more consistent. I think it will help hearts and minds around here!!

Well I better run...
E

Monday, October 06, 2008

So thank you to C for giving my blog a new look!

We have a lot going on here. Some whoa where did that come from stuff. Like a move. We were thinking we may be moving, were then told, no not for a while...now we are moving. To where we are not sure...we do know that the Lord has gone ahead of us...has chosen the path, and place. We just have to trust. I do know we have some crazy places we may move, as in places we never imagined this family living. Some great for many reasons and then not great for many reasons too. So please pray for us as we wait...wait for the Lord, wait for the Air Force and Pray that we will feel and find peace. And thank you to you know who for listening and listening....oh and calling and listening....Well we will update you when we know...maybe more in the mean time but for now...we wait...

Overheard while miss Meri Ellis was taking piano this morning...

"Just play the song one more time Mrs. Logan and I will dance for you again!"

I do believe she thinks I have hired her own private musician to come and play so she can dance!! The girl is funny!!

She and Dale learned about quarter notes today and they both did great.

But she likes to dance more than play the piano!!

He earned his vest! YAY Dale! He memorized his first verse, and I love his version better than NIV! It is
John 3:16
For God loved the world so so much that he sent His one and only Son, that WHOEVER believes Him will not PERISH but will have EVERLASTING, forever and ever LIFE.
John 3:16
Notice we use the reference at the beginning and end like any good Nav would!!

SO BIG news around here. Dale is reading. I am so excited to see him "getting it"! We still have a long way to go, don't we all, but he is blending and can read the simple first readers. And guess who he picks to read to? Merideth! And she is a willing participant. Wow, my friend said that this would be so rewarding and it is!
On another note...see Merideth...SUCKING her fingers! Pray we can find a way to help her quit! While it was sweet and cute about 2 years ago...it it time to stop! She does only do it when really tired or in a "new" situation and is nervous.
Love both these babies and love these milestones!! YAY DALE!!

I really enjoy Jane Austen. I really really love the movies. Sad I know especially since I have a degree in Literature. Pride and Prejudiced is my favorite. I really enjoy watching it while sewing with a certain friend!
Is this quiz accurate? I took one once about "which friend I am", well, it turns out I am Ross!??

Have a great day!

To the far left are the proud parents of a precious baby boy. Next to Darrell and Krista is a group photo of our small group, we were gathered around for a baptism. We have a great "family" small group that we get to meet with every week in our home. We have awesome leadership and the group has really bonded. It is so awesome to celebrate this joyful news with them...Below is an email Donna, who is part of leadership sent.

Hey Family Group!!
Tonight we are THRILLED to let you know we have a new member!! Earlier today I received an email from Krista that they had gotten their approval letter for adoption through Christian Homes, and that the average wait would be 6-9 months, possibly sooner or later.. Then at 7 p.m. Elizabeth called me with the news that Darrell and Krista HAVE A LITTLE BOY. He was born Aug. 8th and they will be picking him up on Monday!!!!! He weighed 5 pounds 7 ounces at birth and now weighs 9 pounds, olive skin, and sandy-colored hair. Name is still pending....
Because of this wonderful news we are going to have a family group baby shower for them during our regular meeting time Sunday evening!!!! They will have selections at Target, but I am not sure how soon they will be registered. Duane and I ran to their house a few minutes ago to give them hugs and they weren't home, so they may have been at Target registering!!!!!!
Thank you God for blessing Darrell and Krista with this precious little boy!! Finally, the long, long wait is over!!!

See you all Sunday evening....
Duane and Donna

Kinda neat to have some GREAT news on here!!!

Here is a link to Krista's blog if you want to read more about them. She has not updated her blog yet, I think she may have a lot going on!!

So not a whole lot going on here...Just some random thoughts.

Stephen and I were talking a few days ago about marriage. A friend of mine told me about a couple that once went to our church and how they are getting divorced. I cried. Literally. I think I surprised my friend. I know I surprised myself. It made me sad. Made me MAD. Made me wonder. Wonder why some christian marriages work...why some don't. So back to what Stephen and I were talking about. Statistically 49% of all marriages end in divorce and the rate is HIGHER in churches. Why? My friend S and I were talking about how it is a choice. A choice to stay, to love, to honor. Some days I DO NOT WANT TO. I don't want to stay, I don't want to love, I don't want to honor. And then I remember the promise and God's promise and I know I will. Because God is bigger than divorce or yucky marriages. He is so much bigger than that. It makes me sad and wonder what those people, and they seemed to have it together in a Godly sort of way, thought was so much bigger than all of that. By the way we are fine, Satan just likes to hang out here sometimes. We kicked him out by the way. Our marriage is Gods and it is going to honor Him.

Sorry if that was too honest for some of you...life is real around here.

Well I better take advantage of my kids snoring and get the two handed stuff done...E

So piano lessons are going really well. Merideth did excellent and I hear Mrs. Logan telling Dale he is being "meticulous". I am not sure what is going on...staying in here! Merideth was playing scales and working with Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse...So CUTE!

Well we are done with the lesson for today. Dale did great. Amazing how a little discipline on my part and things go so much better. Now if I can get into a better sleep schedule and get up at least an hour before the kids I will be rockin' it here!

Pray for my sweet friend C she is making some big decisions. I miss her.

Okay well I better finish up a few things before Dale is done with lessons.

To the left is the motorcycle I wish we DID NOT OWN! Below is sweet Merideth and Blake....

So we are trying so hard to get on a better school schedule....the hardest thing for me in home schooling is just doing it...
That means having the discipline to sit down, get started and FINISH. If, for example, I get on the computer or heaven forbid the phone I don't have the discipline to only do those things for a few minutes...it is a terrible cycle. So with that being said I am not going to answer the phone or get email (etc) until 10AM. Now that does not mean to not call me, I will hear the message and if we are done or/and especially if it is an emergency I will answer it. So enough of that...

Piano starts in the morning, for the 2nd time! The first week I was sick, last week the kids were. So hopefully we will be able to start in the morning. The lessons begin at 9am. We are looking forward to them.

So Stephen bought a motorcycle...I was SO NOT HAPPY. But I do love him so with that please pray for his safety on the blasted thing.
They say a lot of how you are raised stays with you and the DO NOT RIDE a motorcycle has!! Thanks Daddy!

Okay so this post was really random...sorry! One more thing...
I made the potatoes, crash something, from Pioneer Woman Cooks. I have to say, and it is hard, I didn't like them. I know shocker! I have really enjoyed all her other recipes but I think this one really needs a lot of salt and I didn't season enough. (I did use the rosemary S.)

Okay well thank you and good bye!

Stephen just got an email from a friend...
it read...

"Brendon won his fight this morning."

Now those of you reading this and those of you who know me realize what this means...

I cannot imagine the emotional, physical, raw pain his precious Mother has going on right now...BUT...did you read it...HE WON! Imagine the rejoicing in HEAVEN....

I am going to wrap my arms around another 5 year old I know....
and count my many (selfish) blessings....

Oh I love homeschooling! The photo of just Dale is him holding up the number of trees we have in our yard. We are studying about leaves, which led to trees and so we went outside to count how many trees we have...you know math! Anyway then because of all the rain we HAD to jump in puddles...It has been a fun day.

I really don't know how people send their kids to school....really! I have been taking a little girl to school for her parents. She is Brendon's sister. I seriously don't know how "those" people get up early, feed, dress, make sure all the stuff is in the bag and then head out the door. I just have to say you must me much more organized than me!!

Oh and I am enjoying the experience of taking Amelia to school. I kinda wondered how it would be to go to kindergarten on the first day of school...you know the excitement of it all for the parent and the child..well I got to do it! It further concretes the decision Stephen and I have made to home school. It is hard to leave those little ones there not knowing what all is taught and presented to them. I also know now that home schooling is not for everyone, I really never have had that conviction. I just know it is for us. Dale and Merideth have already had breakfast, and done school today...now for some errands! And since it is "l" week we are going to the library!

Have a great day!

So I am feeling a little better and am "trying" to get caught up on the election news. Here are a few articles that I found and thought you might find interesting as well. I just have to say that we need to be careful as to how we "judge" others. I am still behind McCain/Palin...probably more so now than before...

Dobson says he'll vote for McCain-Palin
Via my former colleague, Time's Michael Scherer, I see that Focus on the Family head James Dobson announced on Friday that he will vote for John McCain.

That the influential evangelical leader would eventually come around, despite his longtime skepticism about McCain, is no surprise. But the timing of the announcement, coming as quickly as it did after the news that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will be McCain's running mate, seems to indicate just how successful McCain was at appealing to the social conservative wing of his party by making this choice, and just how politically astute a move this may turn out to be for the presumptive Republican nominee.

― Alex Koppelman

Second article....

Dr. James C. Dobson of Focus on the Family issued the following statement:

"In the 32-year history of Focus on the Family, we have offered prayer, counseling and resource assistance to tens of thousands of parents and children in the same situation the Palins are now facing. We have always encouraged the parents to love and support their children and always advised the girls to see their pregnancies through, even though there will of course be challenges along the way. That is what the Palins are doing, and they should be commended once again for not just talking about their pro-life and pro-family values, but living them out even in the midst of trying circumstances.

"Being a Christian does not mean you're perfect. Nor does it mean your children are perfect. But it does mean there is forgiveness and restoration when we confess our imperfections to the Lord. I've been the beneficiary of that forgiveness and restoration in my own life countless times, as I'm sure the Palins have.

"The media are already trying to spin this as evidence Gov. Palin is a 'hypocrite,' but all it really means is that she and her family are human. They are in my prayers and those of millions of Americans."

...here is another article....

Noting that he has become very concerned about the prospects of the very liberal Barack Obama winning the presidency, he told Prager, "So I’ve been moving in John McCain’s direction."
After hearing of the Palin nomination, he said, "But I can tell you that if I had to go into the studio, I mean the voting booth today, I would pull that [McCain] lever.
Said Prager, "Well, if you’re very excited given your previous reservations then I have to believe, and certainly based on the handful of calls I’ve been able to take the first hour before my 'Happiness Hour,' people were so excited, palpably excited. Jim Dobson, I got to tell you… if your base is energized then that is the biggest nightmare that the left has."
Dobson replied: "I was just with about 300, maybe 400 people in a large auditorium, and they put Sarah Palin’s speech on the screen and we sat there and watched. I’m telling you it was electric. These were conservatives, you know. They were mostly Christian, but not all of them were. I mean to tell you, it set that crowd on fire. If that’s any indication, I think we are going to see some things."

I think that more than anything we just need to pray for our country and that whoever the next leader is that they seek God's face as they lead our country.

Okay so out I am going to rest now...dental surgery is so NOT FUN!!
Love, E

Thursday, August 28, 2008

Hey Friends! Okay so in one hour I will be at the dentist....as many of you know I DO NOT enjoy going to the dentist. Today I am having a gum graph and a dental implant done. I am about to take the happy pill they are giving me to be a little "less aware" of what is going on. Funny thing is I once worked in the dental field...and it still scares me! So pray for me to be calm, STILL, and that I heal fast. Also pray the kids are good!!

So I won't be updating for a few days...I think I may rest and sleep!

Brendon update is that he is not doing well...he only has 1/4 lung function and his pupils don't dilate. I saw his Mother yesterday but did not see her this morning when I picked up their little girl to go to school. Pray for them, I know you are...I just cannot imagine what they are going through. If you have the time sign their guestbook. Thanks!

Love to all...

Please pray for this little boy and his family. We have had the privilege to get to know him and he is such a sweet spunky little boy it is hard to see him struggle like this. I know you all don't leave many messages here but if you could please, leave one for him over on him site...it is http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/brendoncoates
I know his Mom reads them all...

Thanks, E

WOW...what a week we had last week. Mother and Daddy were finally able to get the grapes out. It was a fascinating, educating, fun and amazing harvest. The machine they use to pick the grapes is really neat, and the people that came out to watch and support the process were fun to see and visit with. There is supposed to be an article in one of the area papers about harvest and I will post a link when it goes out. It was wonderful to be able to take the kids with me and let them make memories at the farm. My brother and two of his girls were there and I know Dale and Merideth really enjoyed all the 4-wheeling they did!
Well I better go do the Sunday stuff around here. Small group meets here at 6 and I need to clean some! But I think I may take a nap first!

Monday, August 18, 2008

Okay so tomorrow is the day of harvest!! The kids and I will leave mid morning, or when I get us all packed!! It is only 2 hours to my parents farm. We are so excited! Isn't it wonderful how God works...Guess what tomorrows school lesson deals with? The sun/Son and grapes!! I think I might know where we can get some!!

So pray for safety, fun, rest, that our family (when I say this I include my parents and siblings!) will be a testimony to the workers and the grape buyer! That Dale and Merideth will be able to remember this harvest and that they have fun, the safe kind and that we won't be in the way. Oh and that I can get some great photos. My mojo is off!! Did you know that we were able to be at the farm when the very first plants went in...oh my! I will post some of those photos some time. I was pregnant with Merideth so just posed in a photo but Dale and his Nonnie and Poppy planted some...it is so neat the word pictures from scripture that the vineyard provides!
Well I better go to bed! I may be needed tomorrow!

Love to all! E

One year ago this month...
Grape Harvest...

So I did a photo shoot today. It frustrates me when I don't do as good as I think I can. I can really tell I am rusty, I need to practice more...either that or there is something wrong with the camera. In fact I wonder if there is...the photos are off and soft and the color is going to need a lot of work...

The kids are good. Not much going on here...It is supposed to rain, it can rain here but not in Vera! They need to harvest the grapes this weekend...the photo I have included today was from last years harvest...they did it all by hand. This year they are going to have equipment come and get the grapes...should be a site to see. I am planning on the kids and I going.

Well I better feed the babies...Stephen is flying so maybe we will have cereal or pannie cakes!!

Love, E
